Weekly Update #32 - Big guy with a big gun


Things are getting serious now, work on the first bossfight has started. I have been able to complete modelling, rigging, and texturing, so in the coming week I’ll be working on coding the actual fight. I’ve also taken this opportunity to rework some old code that really needed a revamp, especially regarding camera controls. Here’s the full list:

Content

  • New feature: Genesis’ field generator, a device that generates electric arcs to prevent you from reaching certain areas. They can usually be disabled.
  • New feature: Heavy damage, when Hope takes a heavy hit from an enemy he is now projected backwards and takes a couple seconds to recover.
  • New asset: The Greater Orbweaver model, rig, and textures. Also made a couple animations for it.
  • Bugfix: The targeting system is now more performant.

Work in progress

  • Started reworking on the camera system. I will now be using a multi-camera rig, which will adapt to the situation. The objective is to completely remove the need to tweak the camera manually during combats or exploration. The only time you’ll need to move the camera will be during platforming sections in order to make your jumps more precise.
  • Started reworking on the targeting system. Already made it more performant by a lot, I need to fine-tune it now and it will be perfect.
  • Started coding the bossfight.
