Weekly Update #1 - Performance and Bugfixes
Seed of Life » Devlog
This is my first weekly update. I’m gonna try to talk about the features and assets I create for Seed of Life once a week, to give you a glimpse of the progress I make.
So, today’s update is mainly filled with bugfixes and performance tweaks, but I do have a new enemy that I’ve spent quite some time designing and programing.
Content
- New feature: Genesis Turret enemy and its model
- New feature: Textual lipsync for humanoid NPCs
- Performance: Implemented an object pooling system to reduce CPU overhead
- Performance: Grass now uses smaller chunks and lazy loading, to reduce GPU overhead
- Bugfix: Billboard trees are now affected by fog
- Bugfix: Player now stops moving when switching characters
- Bugfix: There is now a red laser warning when an enemy is about to fire a projectile
Work in Progress
- The player’s equipment: Planning additional equipment for the player, and designing features around it
- Cutscene #3: Still having some trouble with skeletal animations for humanoids
Objectives for next update
- Continue working on cutscene #3 (will probably eat up the whole week)
