Weekly Update #8 - From Concept Art to Retopology


Creating characters from start to finish is a very long process, because a lot of different disciplines are involved. It takes even longer when you’re on your own obviously. This week, I have been working on the first non-human, non-animal*, character of Seed of Life. I had to first create a concept art in order to get an idea of where I’m going with his design, then I had to sculpt the high poly mesh, and then retopologize it into a manageable mesh. And I’m still not done yet, next I’ll need to rig the model, UV unwrap it, bake a couple of normal maps and eventually texture it. Still a long way to go, but I’m glad I managed to get this far in one week.

*Technically, humans are animals too, and this guy is an animal too, but you got the idea.
