Weekly Update #13 - Small but important features


As I’m working on Seed of Life, I find that a good way to maintain motivation and productivity, is to find good balance between the implementation of big, complex features that will take a couple of days, or even a couple of weeks to work out; and smaller but not less important features, that can be implemented in hours. Smaller features allow me to get a sense of progress, and urge me to move forward. This week, after the big feature that was the map menu, I’ve worked on a couple of smaller features. Here’s the full list:

  • Finished what I began on the map menu: it is now possible to view the names of important locations.
  • New Feature: Split stamina. Hope and Letty used to share the same stamina gauge, this is no longer the case as they now both have their own.
  • New Feature: Flying limitation. You can no longer fly Letty out of the level, or into areas you’re not supposed to go.
  • New Feature: Name box. When characters are talking, a little box with their name in it will appear just above the text box. This feature was requested by the testers.
  • Bugfix: The idle animation of one of the NPCs was slightly rotating the model each loop.
