Weekly Update #20 - Expanding the bestiary
Seed of Life » Devlog
Ah, love me some productive week. There is one thing I really like, and that’s really motivating, when working on Seed of Life. It’s starting off with a crude concept art, and taking it through all the steps up until its full implementation in the game. It goes through every discipline, and the work is diverse. This week for example, I’ve been working on the implementation of a new enemy: the Scutigera. I started with concept art, then went through modelling and texturing, rigging and animating, and programing. It was a productive week. Here’s the full list:
Content
- Bugfix: When a level had more than 32 enemies, the camera no longer goes crazy (damn those 32-bits integer).
- New asset: The scutigera model, a worm-like enemy that dwells underground. Along with its textures and procedural animations.
- New feature: Implementation of the scutigera in the game. It can fire projectiles at you from a distance, and if you get too close it’ll try to grab you in its claws.
Work in progress
All done!
Objectives for next update
- I’m going to begin working on my next epic! I’ll start with some concept art, but I’m gonna keep it down for a while to keep the surprise.
