Weekly Update #24 - Far-east music

Another music week for me, as I have mostly been working on the main theme of the Taoist-themed village, Phae. As always, I like to mix up different genres together, so get ready for traditional Chinese music, with electric guitar and marimba. I am very pleased with the final result.

I also had the time to work on a couple of small features. Here’s the full list:

Content

  • New feature: Minimap config persistence. Now, the state (visible or hidden) and the zoom level of the minimap persists between your sessions.
  • New feature: Music and SFX Volume in the settings. Pretty self-explanatory.
  • New feature: Music area manager. Depending on where you are in the level, the music will change.
  • New feature: Swimming and getting out of water, along with VFX and SFX.
  • New asset: Phae’s theme, a calm and peaceful Chinese-inspired track.

Work in progress

  • Pullable ropes. Letty will be able to lift rope ends off the ground and attach them somewhere else, for various purposes. Main purpose will be so that Hope can tightrope walk on them and reach new areas.

Objectives for next update

  • Finish the implementation of pullable ropes.
  • Finish the design of the second Euzoan Cache level. Euzoan Caches are secret locations filled with puzzles, platforms, and treasures.
  • Continue working on Phae’s level design.
